Fittings

We have spent a lot of time talking about CFM and line sizes. Many fittings and connectors are not full flow (especially the cheaper ones), therefore they will restrict the amount of air flow. Look inside each hose, fitting and regulator to make sure that they are not restricting any air movement. We will be recommending at least 3/8" size hose, so we don’t want a quick disconnect fitting to reduce our air flow by ½. We recommend Milton #S1807, #S1808, & #S1805. These are high flow fittings.

Hoses

Most compressors come with 1/4" hoses. We would like to see you with 3/8" or 1/2" hoses because they give us more CFM of air. Some spray guns require more volume of air than others. We don't want to restrict the volume of air before it even gets to the gun. Many people do paint with ¼" hoses, but if they are painting large areas they are in trouble Sooner or later, it will catch up to you.

If you put a short whip hose on the end by the gun, it will make it easier to work with. A whip hose has a ball joint on end near the gun and will give you more flexiblity
